8th Pay Commission Holds First Delhi Meetings on May 13-14 — Defence & Railway Unions to Present Demands

The 8th Central Pay Commission has announced its first stakeholder meetings in Delhi, scheduled for May 13 and 14, 2026. The Commission will interact with institutions, organizations, and unions from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Ministry of Railways (MoR).

According to the official notice dated May 6, 2026 (No. 25/2/2026-App/8CPC), unions and associations wanting to meet the Commission must submit their appointment requests by Sunday, May 10, 2026. Requests must include the unique Memo ID generated after submitting their memorandum through the official NIC portal.

This follows the first meeting between the National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) and the Commission held on April 28, 2026, which officially kicked off the consultation process. That meeting discussed salaries, pensions, allowances, and service conditions of central government employees and pensioners.

The 8th Central Pay Commission was constituted on November 3, 2025, to address pay revision, salaries, pensions, and the fitment factor for central government employees. The Commission is currently in its consultation and memorandum submission phase, and its report is expected approximately 18 months after constitution — likely by mid-2027.

The Commission has confirmed it will hold additional meetings in Delhi, with schedules to be updated on the official website at 8cpc.gov.in. These consultations are expected to play a crucial role in shaping future pay, pension, and allowance reforms for over 50 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners.
