Madhya Pradesh's flagship women's welfare scheme — ₹1,250 per month direct transfer to married women aged 21-60 from lower-income families
📖What is Ladli Behna Yojana (MP) — ₹1,250/Month for Women?
Ladli Behna Yojana is a game-changing welfare scheme launched by the Madhya Pradesh government on 5 March 2023 under Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan (continued by the current government). It provides ₹1,250 per month (₹15,000/year) to eligible women through direct bank transfer. As of 2026, the monthly amount has been progressively increased from the initial ₹1,000 to ₹1,250, with plans to reach ₹3,000/month.
The scheme targets married women aged 21-60 from families with annual income below ₹2.5 lakh. Notably, divorced, widowed, and separated women are also eligible regardless of income. Over 1.3 crore women in MP have enrolled — making it one of the largest direct cash transfer schemes for women in any state.
Ladli Behna became so popular that multiple states launched similar schemes: Maharashtra's Majhi Ladki Bahin, Jharkhand's Maiyan Samman, and Chhattisgarh's Mahtari Vandana. The scheme is credited with influencing state election results — showing how powerful direct benefit transfers are as a policy tool.
The money arrives on the 10th of every month in the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account. There is no restriction on how the money can be used — women use it for household expenses, children's education, small savings, or starting micro-businesses. The scheme is designed to give financial independence and decision-making power to women.

Samagra IDMANDATORY — you must have an active Samagra Family ID and Member ID. Without this, application is not possible. Get it at samagra.gov.in
📝How to Apply — Step by Step
1
Get your Samagra ID ready
Samagra ID is mandatory for all MP government schemes. Check your Samagra ID at samagra.gov.in. If you don't have one, apply at your local Gram Panchayat or Nagar Palika office. Both Family ID and Member ID are needed. Ensure your name, age, and Aadhaar are correctly linked in Samagra.
2
Complete Aadhaar eKYC
Your Aadhaar must be linked with your bank account and mobile number. If not linked, visit your bank branch for Aadhaar seeding. Also complete eKYC at the Samagra portal — this verifies your identity biometrically. Without eKYC, payments will be blocked.
3
Visit your nearest camp/ward office
Applications are accepted at Gram Panchayat offices, ward offices, and special Ladli Behna camps organized by the district administration. Carry: Aadhaar card, Samagra printout, bank passbook, 2 passport photos. The operator fills your form and captures your photo.
4
Form verification and approval
Your application is verified at the ward/panchayat level, then at the block level. Verification takes 15-30 days. Check status at cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in with your Samagra ID or application number.
5
First payment arrives on 10th of next month
Once approved, ₹1,250 is credited to your Aadhaar-linked bank account on the 10th of every month. You'll receive an SMS notification. If payment doesn't arrive, check: (1) Aadhaar-bank linking, (2) eKYC status, (3) bank account is active and not dormant.
🔍How to Check Payment Status
Method 1 — Online: Visit cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in → click 'आवेदन एवं भुगतान की स्थिति' (Application and Payment Status) → enter your Samagra Member ID or mobile number → view all payment details including date and amount.
Method 2 — Bank passbook: Visit your bank and get your passbook updated. All Ladli Behna payments appear as DBT credit entries, usually on the 10th of each month.
Method 3 — Helpline: Call 0755-2700800 or the CM Helpline 181. Provide your Samagra ID and ask about payment status.
Common payment issues: (1) eKYC pending — complete it at Samagra center, (2) Aadhaar not linked to bank — visit bank branch, (3) Bank account dormant — make one transaction to reactivate, (4) Name mismatch between Aadhaar and bank — get corrected at either end.
💡What Makes This Scheme Different from Others
No conditions on use: Unlike other schemes that give money for specific purposes (education, housing), Ladli Behna has ZERO conditions. You can spend the ₹1,250 however you want. This unconditional cash transfer respects women's agency to decide their own priorities.
Covers almost all women: The ₹2.5 lakh income limit is generous enough that roughly 80% of MP's married women qualify. This isn't a niche scheme for the extremely poor — it's near-universal for women.
Regular monthly income: ₹1,250 arrives every single month like clockwork. For rural women in MP where daily wages are ₹200-300, this represents 4-6 days of guaranteed income without working. Over a year, ₹15,000 is enough to buy a year's worth of school supplies for 2-3 children.
Dignity and independence: Many beneficiaries report that having their own bank account with regular income has changed family dynamics. Women have more say in household decisions and are less financially dependent on husbands or in-laws.
