📖What is Ladli Behna Yojana (MP) — ₹1,500/Month for Women?

Ladli Behna Yojana is a direct cash transfer scheme launched by the Madhya Pradesh government on 5 March 2023. It provides ₹1,500 per month (₹18,000/year) to eligible women through direct bank transfer. As of March 2026, the monthly amount has been progressively increased from ₹1,000 to ₹1,250 to ₹1,500, making it one of the most generous women's welfare schemes in India.

The scheme targets married women aged 21-60 from families with annual income below ₹2.5 lakh. Notably, divorced, widowed, and separated women are also eligible regardless of income.

Over 1.3 crore women in MP have enrolled. The money arrives on the 10th of every month in the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account.

The scheme has expanded to influence similar programs across states. Maharashtra launched Majhi Ladki Bahin (₹1,500/month), Jharkhand introduced Maiyan Samman, and Chhattisgarh started Mahtari Vandana. These state-level schemes demonstrate the policy success and popularity of direct benefit transfers for women.

Unlike conditional cash transfers, there are no restrictions on how women can use the money. Beneficiaries report using funds for household expenses, children's education, small business startup capital, health emergencies, and personal financial independence. The scheme is designed to strengthen women's decision-making power within families.

📝How to Apply — Step by Step

1
Get your Samagra ID ready
Samagra ID is mandatory for all MP government schemes. Check your Samagra ID at samagra.gov.in. If you don't have one, apply at your local Gram Panchayat or Nagar Palika office. Both Family ID and Member ID are needed. Ensure your name, age, and Aadhaar are correctly linked in Samagra.
2
Complete Aadhaar eKYC
Your Aadhaar must be linked with your bank account and mobile number. If not linked, visit your bank branch for Aadhaar seeding. Also complete eKYC at the Samagra portal — this verifies your identity biometrically. Without eKYC, payments will be blocked.
3
Visit your nearest camp/ward office
Applications are accepted at Gram Panchayat offices, ward offices, and special Ladli Behna camps organized by the district administration. Carry: Aadhaar card, Samagra printout, bank passbook, 2 passport photos. The operator fills your form and captures your photo.
4
Form verification and approval
Your application is verified at the ward/panchayat level, then at the block level. Verification takes 15-30 days. Check status at cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in with your Samagra ID or application number.
5
First payment arrives on 10th of next month
Once approved, ₹1,500 is credited to your Aadhaar-linked bank account on the 10th of every month. You'll receive an SMS notification. If payment doesn't arrive, check: (1) Aadhaar-bank linking, (2) eKYC status, (3) bank account is active and not dormant.

🔍How to Check Payment Status

Method 1 — Online Status Check

Visit cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in and click 'आवेदन एवं भुगतान की स्थिति' (Application and Payment Status). Enter your Samagra Member ID or mobile number to view all payment details including date and amount.

Method 2 — Bank Passbook

Visit your bank and get your passbook updated. All Ladli Behna payments appear as DBT credit entries, usually on the 10th of each month.

Your statement will show each monthly deposit.

Method 3 — Helpline Support

Call 0755-2700800 (state helpline) or CM Helpline 181. Provide your Samagra ID and ask about payment status.

Staff can also help troubleshoot payment delays.

Resolving Payment Issues

Common problems: (1) eKYC pending — complete at Samagra center, (2) Aadhaar not linked to bank — visit bank branch, (3) Bank account dormant — make one transaction to reactivate, (4) Name mismatch between Aadhaar and bank — correct at either end.

💡What Makes This Scheme Different

No Conditions on Use

Unlike schemes that give money for specific purposes (education, housing), Ladli Behna has zero conditions. The ₹1,500 can be spent however beneficiaries choose.

This respects women's autonomy to decide their own priorities.

Nearly Universal Coverage

The ₹2.5 lakh income limit is generous enough that roughly 80% of MP's married women qualify. This isn't targeted only at the extremely poor — it's near-universal support for women.

Regular Monthly Guarantee

₹1,500 arrives every single month like clockwork. For rural women in MP where daily wages are ₹200-300, this represents 5-7 days of guaranteed income without working.

Builds Financial Independence

Many beneficiaries report that having their own bank account with regular income has transformed family dynamics. Women have more say in household decisions and are less financially dependent on husbands or in-laws.
