NEET UG 2026 Answer Key Released — How to Check Score and Raise Objections

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the provisional answer key for NEET UG 2026 on May 6, 2026, at neet.nta.nic.in. The medical entrance examination was conducted on May 3, 2026, across centres in India and abroad with approximately 22.79 lakh registered candidates.
The provisional answer key is available for all question paper codes — 11, 12, 13, and 14. Candidates can download the answer key PDF by logging into the NEET portal using their application number and password. The answer key contains the correct responses for all 200 questions across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology sections.
To calculate your expected NEET UG 2026 score, use the standard marking scheme: 4 marks for each correct answer and minus 1 mark for each incorrect answer. Unattempted questions receive zero marks. The maximum possible score is 720 marks across 180 questions (200 total minus 20 optional questions). This self-assessment helps you estimate your rank range and begin shortlisting medical colleges for counselling.
NTA will separately upload scanned copies of candidates' OMR answer sheets on the portal. Once OMR sheets are available, candidates can compare their marked responses against the answer key and identify any discrepancies. The challenge window for raising objections against the provisional answer key will be announced separately — candidates typically get 2 to 3 days to submit objections with a fee of Rs 200 per question.
Early analysis by coaching institutes suggests the NEET 2026 paper was of moderate difficulty overall. Physics was reported as the most challenging section, while Biology was considered relatively straightforward. The expected qualifying cutoff for General category (50th percentile) is projected at approximately 144 to 170 marks. For OBC, SC, and ST categories (40th percentile), the cutoff may be in the range of 113 to 143 marks. A safe score for admission to government MBBS colleges is expected to be around 610 to 650 marks.
The NEET UG 2026 final result is expected to be declared in the second week of June 2026, likely around June 13 to 14. After the result announcement, NEET counselling for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and other medical courses will begin through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota seats and through respective state counselling authorities for state quota seats.
