What is the RRB ALP job? An Assistant Loco Pilot operates trains under the supervision of a Loco Pilot, monitoring controls, signals, and track while assisting with safe train movement. The career progression is strong: ALP → Loco Pilot (Goods) → Loco Pilot (Mail/Express) → Senior Loco Pilot → Loco Supervisor/Inspector. It is a Group C central government post with job security, railway passes, and 7th Pay Commission benefits.
How to apply: Visit rrbapply.gov.in → Register with mobile number and email → Fill in personal, educational, and trade details → Upload photo and signature → Pay application fee → Submit and note your Registration Number. Candidates must apply to only one RRB — applying to multiple RRBs leads to rejection of all applications. Choose the RRB based on your preferred zone or state posting.
CBT 1 exam pattern: 75 questions, 75 marks, 60 minutes. Sections: Mathematics (20 Qs), General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 Qs), General Science (20 Qs), General Awareness on Current Affairs (10 Qs). Minimum qualifying marks: 40% General/OBC/EWS, 30% SC, 25% ST. Negative marking: 1/3 mark per wrong answer.
ITI trade eligibility: Trades recognised include Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Wireman, Fitter, Machinist, Welder, Mechanic (Diesel), Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Tractor Mechanic, and several others.
