SSC Stenographer 2026 — 731 Posts, Fee Payment Deadline Today May 16, Don't Miss

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Stenographer Grade C and D Examination 2026 fee payment deadline is today — May 16, 2026. If you've submitted your application but haven't paid the fee yet, do it immediately.

Exam pattern: Computer Based Test with 200 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours. Three sections — General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 Qs), General Awareness (50 Qs), English Language & Comprehension (100 Qs). Sectional timing: 30 minutes each for Section I and II, 60 minutes for Section III. Negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer.

After CBT: Candidates who qualify the CBT are called for the Skill Test in Stenography. Grade C requires dictation at 100 WPM and transcription in 40 minutes (English) or 55 minutes (Hindi). Grade D requires 80 WPM dictation with same transcription times.

Grade C vs Grade D: Grade C is a Group B (Non-Gazetted) post with higher pay scale (₹44,900-1,42,400 Level 6). Grade D is a Group C post (₹25,500-81,100 Level 4). Grade C requires stenography at 100 WPM while Grade D needs 80 WPM.

Career growth: SSC Stenographer is one of the fastest career growth tracks in government. Grade D stenographers can be promoted to Personal Assistant and eventually to Principal Private Secretary. Grade C offers even faster promotion to Section Officer level.
