Berojgari Bhatta Form 2026: how to apply state-by-state
My neighbour in Rajasthan registered for Berojgari Bhatta six months ago. He still has not received a rupee. I found out why, and also mapped out which states are actually paying in 2026 versus which ones have paused the scheme.
âšī¸What Berojgari Bhatta Is and Who Runs It
Berojgari Bhatta (unemployment allowance) is not a central government scheme. It is run by individual state governments for educated unemployed youth.
Each state has its own rules, amounts, eligibility criteria, and application portal. There is no single national Berojgari Bhatta form or website.
If someone tells you to apply at a central government website for this allowance, it is likely a scam. Every state-level scheme has its own name, its own portal, and its own rules.
The allowance is meant as temporary financial support while an educated young person searches for a job. It is not a permanent income.
Most states pay for a limited period, anywhere from 1 to 3 years, and stop the payment if the person finds employment or refuses a government-referred job.

đBerojgari Bhatta in Uttar Pradesh: Amount and Sewayojan Portal
Uttar Pradesh runs its unemployment allowance through the Sewayojan portal at sewayojan.up.nic.in. Most sources cite a monthly allowance in the range of Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 while you remain unemployed.
You must be a permanent UP resident, aged 21 to 35, with family income up to Rs 3 lakh a year. A minimum 10th pass and an active employment exchange registration are required.
Registration is now two-step. You first create a Sewayojan job-seeker profile, then open the Berojgari Bhatta section after your profile is complete.
đBerojgari Bhatta in Madhya Pradesh: Amount and MP Rojgar Portal
Madhya Pradesh provides the allowance through the My MP Rojgar portal at mprojgar.gov.in. The commonly cited amount is Rs 1,500 per month.
You must be an MP permanent resident, aged 21 to 35, and at least 12th pass. The allowance runs for up to three years or until you find a job.
Registration starts with a profile on the MP Rojgar portal, after which you can fill the allowance form and track status.
đDocuments Needed to Apply (Across Most States)
â ī¸Why Most People Register But Never Receive Money
â ī¸Why Most People Register But Never Receive Money
Bank account not Aadhaar-linked: The most common reason. DBT fails if your account is not Aadhaar-seeded.
Visit your bank to link before applying. Monthly portal login not done: Rajasthan and some other states require monthly online attendance.
If you forget one month, payment stops. Scheme paused by government: States sometimes pause the scheme due to budget.
No public announcement is made. Payments just stop.
Track the portal regularly. Employment exchange registration missing: You must be registered with the local employment exchange.
Many applicants skip this step and get rejected later. Wrong income certificate: Income certificate must be for the current financial year.
Old certificates are rejected. Scheme not active in your state: Not every state runs Berojgari Bhatta.
Check your specific state portal. Do not assume it runs everywhere.
đHow Long the Allowance Is Paid
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Month 1-3 | Application verification and first payment after approval |
| Month 4-12 | Monthly payments continue if you mark portal attendance |
| Month 13-24 | Most states continue for 2 years |
| Month 25-36 | Some states (like Rajasthan) pay for up to 3 years |
| After year 3 | Payment stops automatically |
| If you get a job before the period ends | You must report it on the portal. Payments stop automatically once you are employed |
| If you refuse a government-referred job | Some states (Haryana Saksham) stop the allowance immediately if you refuse a valid job referral |
| Duration varies | Confirm exact tenure with the state portal as rules are revised |
đBerojgari Bhatta Status: How to Check Your Application Online
Application status is tracked on the same state portal where you applied. Log in with your mobile number and registered ID to check where your application stands: submitted, under verification, approved, or rejected.
If rejected, the portal usually shows a rejection reason. Common reasons are shown in the rejection remarks.
If the reason is document-related, you can often re-upload and reapply. For payment status, check your bank account directly.
The credit typically comes on a fixed date each month. If no credit arrives despite approval, contact the district employment officer with your application ID.
Do not call helplines expecting instant resolution. Document everything in writing.
Submit a grievance through the portal if payments are delayed beyond two months post-approval.
đĄStates Where Berojgari Bhatta Is Not Currently Active
Some states launched Berojgari Bhatta as pre-election announcements and then paused or discontinued it after elections. Applicants who registered received no money and no clear communication.
If you are unsure whether your state currently runs the scheme, visit the official state employment portal and look for active disbursement news. Avoid applying based on social media claims or job portal advertisements.
Alternative support while you search for work: The National Career Service (NCS) portal at ncs.gov.in connects job seekers to employers. The PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana provides free skill training.
Some states offer skill stipends during training which may be more consistently paid than unemployment allowance.
âī¸Berojgari Bhatta vs MGNREGS: Both or Neither?
| Scheme | Details |
|---|---|
| BEROJGARI BHATTA | For educated unemployed graduates |
| Amount | Rs 900 to Rs 4,500 per month depending on state |
| Duration | 1-3 years |
| Requires | Degree certificate, domicile, employment exchange registration |
| MGNREGS (NREGA) | For rural households needing work. Payment only when you work (100 days per year guaranteed) |
| Rate | Daily wage (~Rs 220-350 depending on state) |
| Requires | Job card from Gram Panchayat. CAN YOU GET BOTH? Not simultaneously in most states. If you are doing NREGA work, you are considered employed and lose Berojgari Bhatta eligibility. They are designed for different situations |
đ Monthly Attendance: The Step That Most People Miss
In Rajasthan's Mukhyamantri Yuva Sambal Yojana and in several other state schemes, the unemployment allowance does not flow automatically every month. You must log in to the portal each month and actively confirm that you are still unemployed.
This is called monthly attendance or monthly confirmation. The portal typically opens for monthly attendance from the 1st to the 10th of each month.
If you do not log in and mark attendance during this window, that month's payment is not released. It is not carried forward - it is simply lost.
Many applicants who are approved and receive their first one or two payments then stop receiving it. The reason in nearly every case is that they forgot to do monthly attendance.
The portal does not send a reminder SMS for this in most states. You have to remember on your own.
Set a calendar reminder for the 1st of every month. Log in to the employment portal with your ID and password.
Look for the 'Monthly Attendance' or 'Monthly Confirmation' button. Click it, verify your unemployment status, and submit.
The whole process takes under 2 minutes. In Haryana Saksham Yojana, the monthly confirmation also includes confirming whether you were given any work assignment that month.
If you were given a government work assignment (like data entry, census work, or document digitisation) and completed it, you must report it. If you refused an assignment, the system may flag you for allowance cancellation.
đŧBerojgari Bhatta While Job Hunting: How to Use the Time
The allowance is not enough to live on, but it is enough to give you 12-24 months of breathing room to prepare for competitive exams or skill up before applying for jobs. This is the intended use of the scheme, though it is rarely explained this way.
If you are targeting SSC, UPSC, state PSC, or banking exams, use the Berojgari Bhatta period strategically. The Rs 4,000 a month in Rajasthan is enough to cover coaching materials or online courses.
Combine it with free resources from PMKVY (PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana) which offers free short-term skill certificates that improve your employment prospects. The employment exchange registration that is required for the allowance also gives you access to government job vacancy notifications.
Many employment exchanges post Grade C and D government vacancies on their notice boards and portals before they appear on public websites. Visiting your employment exchange once a month is worth your time.
Do not waste the period. The allowance ends.
Treat the 2-3 year window as funded study time. Those who emerge from Berojgari Bhatta with a skill certificate or a government exam attempt have used the scheme as intended.
Those who treat it as a monthly income supplement without any career movement find themselves in the same position when the scheme ends.
âī¸What If Your State Pauses the Scheme Mid-Year
State governments have paused Berojgari Bhatta without notice in multiple instances. Madhya Pradesh suspended its scheme after a change in government.
Other states have paused payments during budget crises without any official announcement. If your payment stops and you did everything correctly (monthly attendance marked, documents valid, no employment), the first step is to check the state portal for any official notifications.
Sometimes a banner appears saying payments are delayed. Sometimes there is nothing.
Next, visit your district employment office in person. Ask the Employment Officer directly whether payments have been suspended or whether the issue is specific to your case.
Get a written acknowledgement of your visit and inquiry. If the scheme is suspended state-wide, there is limited recourse other than waiting for the budget to be cleared.
However, if the suspension is found to be unjustified, RTI applications and legal action through State Consumer Forums have forced payment releases in past incidents in other states. The practical protection against this risk is not to depend on Berojgari Bhatta as your only income.
Use it as supplementary support while actively pursuing employment or upskilling. A scheme that can be paused by a budget notification is not a reliable primary income.
đEmployment Exchange Registration: How to Do It
đąChecking Your Application Status and Payment History
All state Berojgari Bhatta portals provide a status tracking feature once you are registered. Log in with your registered mobile number and application ID.
The status page shows: whether your application has been verified, whether it is approved or pending, and the payment history showing dates and amounts of each monthly credit. For Rajasthan: the employment.livelihoods.rajasthan.gov.in portal shows your monthly payment history going back to your first payment.
If a month shows as processed but you did not receive it, cross-check with your bank account and raise a DBT grievance through the portal. For Haryana Saksham: the hreyahs.gov.in portal shows your eligibility status, current monthly allowance amount, and whether you have been assigned government work.
If assigned work is shown as pending, contact the district employment office immediately. For Bihar: the 7nishchay-yuvaupmission.bihar.gov.in portal tracks all payments.
Bihar's scheme is time-limited to 2 years, so the portal also shows how many months of allowance remain. Always check the portal status before calling helplines.
Most queries that applicants take to helplines are answered by the portal status page. Calling saves time only when the portal shows an inconsistency or an unexplained rejection.
â ī¸Renewal and DBT: Why Approved Applicants Still Miss Payments
Most states require you to renew your employment exchange registration periodically. If your registration lapses, the allowance stops even after approval.
The second common cause is a bank account that is not DBT-enabled. Seed your Aadhaar with your bank and confirm DBT is active, or the credit fails silently.
You must also report any job you take within the stated window. Continuing to draw the allowance after employment is treated as fraud in most states.
