📋What Can You Update Online vs At Aadhaar Center?

Online (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in): You can update name, address, date of birth, gender, email, and mobile number. You CANNOT update biometrics (fingerprint, iris, photo) online — this requires visiting an Aadhaar Enrollment Center.

At Aadhaar Enrollment Center: Everything that can be done online PLUS biometric updates (photo, fingerprints, iris scan). Required if your photo is outdated, fingerprints aren't matching, or you need to update biometrics for the first time.

Important: Biometric update (photo + fingerprints + iris) is FREE once every 10 years and is recommended to keep your Aadhaar functional for authentication. Demographic updates (name, address, DOB) cost ₹50 each, whether online or at the center.

You can update your Aadhaar a maximum of 2 times online for demographic details. After that, you must visit an Aadhaar center for further changes.

📱How to Update Mobile Number in Aadhaar

You CANNOT update your mobile number online if your current registered mobile is not working. In that case, you must visit an Aadhaar Enrollment Center.

If your current mobile is active: Login to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in → OTP on current mobile → Update Mobile Number → Enter new mobile → OTP on new mobile → Done. No document needed, no fee.

If your current mobile is lost/changed: Visit any Aadhaar Enrollment Center (find at appointments.uidai.gov.in). Carry your Aadhaar card + one ID proof. The center operator will update your mobile after biometric verification (fingerprint). No appointment needed for mobile update.

Tip: Always keep your mobile number updated in Aadhaar. It's needed for OTP-based authentication used by banks, government schemes (PM Kisan, LPG subsidy), and income tax e-filing.
