The SSC GD Constable 2026 Computer-Based Test (CBT) is in its final phase from May 25 to 30, 2026. The exam, which started April 27, is being conducted across hundreds of centres throughout India for 25,487 vacancies in BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles (Rifleman GD), Secretariat Security Force (SSF), and the Narcotics Control Bureau (Sepoy).

What to expect after the exam: Once the CBT phase concludes on May 30, SSC will release the provisional answer key on ssc.gov.in within 2–3 weeks. Candidates can challenge the answer key within the stipulated window. The CBT result is expected in June–July 2026. Shortlisted candidates will then appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) — which tests running distance, height, chest (for male candidates), and weight.
PET requirements — Male candidates: Run 5 km in 24 minutes (for most candidates); candidates from Ladakh run 1 mile in 6.5 minutes. Female candidates: Run 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes (Ladakh: 800 metres in 4 minutes). Height requirement for male General/OBC/SC: 170 cm; ST: 162.5 cm. Female General/OBC/SC: 157 cm; ST: 150 cm. Ex-servicemen have different norms.
Forces with highest vacancies (2026): CISF has the largest share, followed by CRPF, BSF, SSB, and ITBP. The exact force-wise and state-wise breakdown was published in the SSC GD notification December 2025. Candidates should check the original notification for their state's vacancy count for each force.
Important note on the April 27 Kolkata cancellation: SSC cancelled the exam at three centres on April 27 — AMS Institute (Kolkata), Santiniketan Polytechnic (Durgapur), and Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Polytechnic College, Moga (Punjab) — due to technical issues.
