What happens next — the full roadmap: Once the CBT concludes today, SSC will release the provisional answer key at ssc.gov.in within 2–3 weeks. Candidates will have a 4–5 day window to raise objections at ₹100 per question. The final answer key follows. The CBT result is expected in July 2026, listing roll numbers of candidates shortlisted for PET/PST. Approximately 10–12 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted.
PET/PST requirements (Physical Efficiency Test): Male candidates must run 5 km in 24 minutes. Female candidates must run 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes. Candidates from Ladakh region have modified standards. Height requirements: Male General/OBC/SC — 170 cm; Male ST — 162.5 cm; Female General/OBC/SC — 157 cm; Female ST — 150 cm. PET is qualifying in nature — marks are NOT added to the final merit list. Only CBT marks determine merit.
Medical examination and document verification: Candidates who clear PET/PST proceed to a Detailed Medical Examination (DME) conducted by respective forces. Vision standards, colour blindness tests, and other physical checks are carried out. After DME, document verification confirms eligibility. The final merit list is released force-wise and category-wise after all stages conclude.
If your exam went well — start physical prep now: The PET/PST is where many candidates lose out despite clearing CBT. Running 5 km in 24 minutes requires consistent training. With the result expected in July and PET likely August–September 2026, you have 2–3 months to build stamina. Start today. See our SSC CHSL exam guide for another SSC opportunity, or check the SSC CPO guide for Sub-Inspector posts in CAPFs.
