SSC Stenographer 2026 Recruitment — Apply Online for 731 Grade C & D Posts Before May 18

The Staff Selection Commission has released the official notification for Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Examination 2026. A total of 731 vacancies have been announced across central government ministries and departments. Online applications are now open on ssc.gov.in.
Grade C posts carry Pay Level 6 (Rs 35,400-1,12,400 basic pay) and Grade D posts carry Pay Level 4 (Rs 25,500-81,100). Both offer standard government benefits including DA, HRA, medical insurance, pension, and LTC. Postings are across central government offices in Delhi and other cities.
The exam has two parts — a Computer Based Examination (CBE) testing General Intelligence, Reasoning, English Language, and General Awareness, followed by a Skill Test where candidates must demonstrate stenography speed of 100 WPM (Grade C) or 80 WPM (Grade D). The skill test is qualifying in nature.
Application fee is Rs 100 for general and OBC candidates. SC, ST, PwD, and women candidates are exempted from the fee. Apply through the SSC's one-time registration portal at ssc.gov.in. If you haven't registered on SSC's portal before, complete the one-time registration first.
