UPSC Prelims 2026 Day After Tomorrow — Final 48-Hour Checklist, What to Carry & Exam Strategy

The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 is day after tomorrow — Sunday, May 24. Over 13 lakh candidates will sit for India's most competitive exam. Here's your final 48-hour battle plan.

CSAT Cutoff33% (66/200) — qualifying only
Admit Cardupsconline.nic.in (released May 15)
Carry2 printouts of admit card + original photo ID + black pen
Do NOT CarryMobile, smartwatch, calculator, Bluetooth — BANNED

48-HOUR CHECKLIST — do these TODAY (May 22): (1) Print 2 copies of admit card from upsconline.nic.in. (2) Check exam centre address on Google Maps — calculate travel time + 30 min buffer. (3) Keep original photo ID ready (same as mentioned on admit card). (4) Pack: 2-3 black ballpoint pens, transparent water bottle, analog watch, light snack for between papers.

Tomorrow (May 23) — rest day: No new topics. Only light revision of current affairs and static facts you've already covered. Stop studying by 6 PM. Eat light dinner. Sleep by 10 PM. Set 2 alarms for 6:30 AM.

Paper I strategy (GS — 100 questions, 2 hours): First pass (60 min): Attempt questions you're 100% sure about. Mark answers on OMR immediately. Second pass (40 min): Attempt questions where you can eliminate 2+ options. Final pass (20 min): Review marked answers. Target: 65-75 attempts with 80%+ accuracy. Don't touch questions where you're purely guessing.

Between papers (11:30 AM – 2:30 PM): Don't discuss Paper I answers with anyone — it kills confidence and changes nothing. Eat lunch (carry from home — exam centres rarely have good food options). Rest for 30 min. Light revision of CSAT formulas if needed.

Paper II strategy (CSAT — 80 questions, 2 hours): CSAT is qualifying (need 33% = 66/200). Start with reading comprehension — these are the easiest marks. Then basic maths and data interpretation. Skip complex decision-making questions if running low on time. Target: 50+ attempts, 40+ correct.

Common mistakes to avoid: (1) Don't change answers unless absolutely sure — first instinct is usually right. (2) Don't spend more than 2 minutes on any question. (3) Don't leave the OMR sheet filling for the last 5 minutes. (4) Don't carry your phone — leave it at home or in the vehicle.
