📖What is Digital Gujarat Scholarship 2026: Apply, Login, Status?

The Digital Gujarat Scholarship portal (digitalgujarat.gov.in) is the Gujarat government's single-window platform for all scholarship applications. Instead of applying separately to 33+ different schemes, students register once and apply through one unified portal.

It covers pre-matric, post-matric, and professional course scholarships for SC, ST, OBC, SEBC, minority, and EBC students. The portal handles everything from registration to application to status tracking to disbursement.

The portal is mandatory for all new scholarship applications in Gujarat since 2015. Paper-based applications are no longer accepted.

Students from Class 1 (pre-matric) to PhD level (post-matric professional) can apply. The earlier you register, the better, because some schemes have limited seats.

📋Which Scholarships Are on the Digital Gujarat Portal?

The portal hosts scholarships from multiple departments: Social Justice, Tribal Development, Minority Affairs, and Education. Each department runs its own schemes but the application process is unified through one portal.

SC and ST students get pre-matric and post-matric scholarships covering tuition fees, hostel charges, and maintenance allowance. OBC and SEBC students get similar schemes with different income limits.

Pre-matric scholarships cover Class 1 to Class 10 students. These are smaller amounts but help families keep children in school.

The application process is the same as post-matric.

Post-matric scholarships are the most popular. They cover Class 11 onwards, including graduation, post-graduation, and professional courses like engineering, medical, and law.

Professional course scholarships reimburse the full tuition fee for SC students in engineering and medical colleges. This is the highest-value scholarship on the portal.

Minority students (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi) have separate schemes with lower income limits. These cover both pre-matric and post-matric levels.

🔍How to Check Digital Gujarat Scholarship Status

After logging in, click on 'My Applications' in the dashboard. Each submitted application shows its current stage: Applied, Under Review, Approved, Disbursed, or Rejected.

If the status shows 'Rejected', click on the application to see the rejection reason. Common reasons include incomplete documents, income certificate expired, or bank account mismatch.

'Under Review' means the institution or district office is verifying your documents. This can take 2-4 weeks.

Do not submit duplicate applications during this period.

Once 'Approved', the scholarship amount is transferred to your bank account within 4-6 weeks. Check your bank statement or passbook for the credit.

📝Digital Gujarat Scholarship Form: Step-by-Step Guide

After logging in, click on 'Apply for Scholarship' from the left menu. The system first checks if your profile is 100% complete.

If not, it redirects you to complete the missing fields.

The form has 5 sections: Personal Details (name, DOB, gender, Aadhaar), Address (current and permanent), Education (current course, institution, year), Bank Details (account number, IFSC), and Documents (upload scanned copies).

Upload documents in PDF or JPG format, under 500KB each. Scan them clearly.

Blurry or cropped documents get rejected during verification.

After filling all sections, click 'Preview'. Check every field carefully.

Once submitted, you cannot edit the application. Any error means a new application in the next cycle.

📋Digital Gujarat Scholarship for OBC Students

OBC students in Gujarat can apply for post-matric scholarships if the family income is below ₹2.5 lakh per year. The scholarship covers partial tuition fee and a maintenance allowance.

The OBC category on Digital Gujarat includes both OBC and SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes). If you are OBC non-creamy layer, you qualify.

Creamy layer OBC does not qualify for most scholarships.

OBC students studying in professional courses (engineering, medical, MBA) get higher reimbursement than those in arts or commerce. The exact amount depends on the institution type (government, grant-in-aid, or self-financed).

To apply, select 'OBC Post-Matric Scholarship' or 'SEBC Post-Matric Scholarship' from the scheme list after logging in. Both require a valid OBC/SEBC certificate from the Mamlatdar.

📋Digital Gujarat Scholarship for SC and ST Students

SC students have the biggest advantage on the Digital Gujarat portal: there is no income limit for SC post-matric scholarships. Every SC student from Class 11 onwards is eligible regardless of family income.

ST students qualify with a family income below ₹2.5 lakh per year. Both SC and ST students get full tuition fee reimbursement at government and grant-in-aid colleges.

For self-financed colleges, SC/ST students get tuition reimbursement up to the government college fee rate. The difference must be paid by the student.

Maintenance allowance for SC/ST hostellers is higher than day scholars. If you stay in a hostel, mention it in the form to get the additional allowance.

⚠️Common Rejection Reasons and How to Fix Them

The most common rejection is 'Income certificate expired or invalid'. Your income certificate must be from the current financial year.

Get a fresh one from the Mamlatdar office before applying.

Second most common: 'Bank account not linked to Aadhaar'. Visit your bank branch with Aadhaar and ask for Aadhaar-bank linking.

Verify on npci.org.in.

'Caste certificate not valid' happens when the certificate is from a different format or expired. Get a fresh caste certificate from the Mamlatdar or Taluka Development Officer.

'Bonafide certificate missing' is easily fixed. Get a bonafide (enrollment proof) from your current college or school office.

It must have the institution's stamp and signature.

'Duplicate application detected' means you submitted more than one application for the same scheme. Contact the helpline at 079-26566000 to cancel the duplicate.

Renewal applications

If you received the scholarship last year, you must renew it every year. Login to the portal, go to 'My Applications', and click 'Renew'.

Upload the current year's marksheet and updated income certificate.

💰How Much Scholarship Can You Get from Digital Gujarat?

The amount varies by scheme, category, and course level. SC post-matric students in professional courses (engineering, medical) can get full tuition reimbursement plus ₹1,200-1,500/month maintenance allowance.

OBC and SEBC students typically get partial fee reimbursement. The exact percentage depends on the course type and the annual fee of the institution.

Minority students get ₹3,000-25,000/year depending on the level. Pre-matric is ₹3,000-5,000.

Post-matric non-professional is ₹5,000-10,000. Post-matric professional is ₹15,000-25,000.

EBC (General category with income below ₹6 lakh) students get fee reimbursement for professional courses only. The reimbursement covers tuition and exam fees, not hostel or living expenses.

🏢Digital Gujarat Scholarship: Help at e-Gram Centers

If you face any issues with the portal, visit your nearest e-Gram Kendra (Common Service Center). They can help with registration, document uploading, and form submission for a small fee.

e-Gram centers also help with Aadhaar-bank linking, income certificate application, and caste certificate verification. This is useful if you live in a rural area with limited internet access.

The Digital Gujarat portal replaced 33+ individual scholarship applications with one login, one form, one dashboard. If you are a Gujarat student from a reserved category, this is the only portal you need.

⚖️Digital Gujarat Scholarship vs Direct Application: Why Use the Portal?

Before Digital Gujarat, students had to visit different offices for different scholarships. SC students went to the Social Justice department, ST students to the Tribal Development department, and minorities to a separate office.

The portal eliminated this confusion. One registration, one login, all scholarships visible in one dashboard.

Your documents are uploaded once and reused across renewal cycles.

The portal also reduced corruption. Since applications are tracked digitally with timestamps, there is less scope for officials to delay or lose your application.

If your application is rejected, you see the exact reason on the portal. Previously, students had to visit the office and ask, often getting no clear answer.
