📖What is Haryana Pension: Check Status, Amount, Apply Online?
Haryana runs three social security pension schemes under the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment. Together these schemes provide monthly income to senior citizens, widows, destitute women, and persons with disabilities across all districts of the state.
The Old Age Samman Allowance, the Widow and Destitute Women Allowance, and the Haryana Divyang Pension are funded entirely by the state government. All three pensions are disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer via PFMS every month.

📖Haryana's Three Pension Schemes
Any resident applying for a Haryana pension must first have a valid Parivar Pehchan Patra or Family ID from meraparivar.haryana.gov.in. The 8-digit Family ID links each household to income, age, and demographic data that the department uses to verify eligibility automatically.
The Old Age Samman Allowance is the primary budhapa pension for Haryana residents aged 60 years and above. It was designed to provide monthly financial support to elderly citizens who lack sufficient income to meet daily living expenses.
Both husband and wife may each draw the Old Age Samman Allowance separately if each individually meets the residency and income criteria. The pension is credited monthly to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of each beneficiary without any manual collection.
There is no upper age limit for the Old Age Samman Allowance and applications are accepted throughout the year. Any Haryana domicile aged 60 or above whose household income stays within the prescribed limit may apply at the nearest CSC or Atal Seva Kendra.
For elderly applicants who find it difficult to travel, CSC operators are authorised to assist with pension applications under the Antyodaya-Saral mission. The Saral helpline at 1800-2000-023 can connect applicants with the nearest operator who provides on-site or doorstep assistance services.
👵Old Age Samman Allowance
Senior citizens in Haryana who are also residents of the Old Age Home at Rewari, which is operated by the same Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment, may have their pension arrangements reviewed by the department. For most pensioners living independently, the monthly allowance continues without any interruption.
The Widow and Destitute Women Allowance provides monthly support to women who have lost their husbands or are living without adequate family support. The scheme was created specifically to protect economically vulnerable women from falling into poverty.
A woman qualifies for the widow pension if she is 18 years of age or above and her own income from all sources is below Rs 3,00,000 per year. She must fall under one of three categories: a widow, a destitute woman without husband, parents, or adult sons, or a woman whose husband is incapacitated and unable to earn.
Women receiving the widow pension should ensure their Parivar Pehchan Patra Family ID reflects current household details and income. The department cross-checks income and family composition data from the PPP system during its annual beneficiary verification cycle.
The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment also operates the Haryana Persons with Disabilities framework, which governs both the Divyang Pension and the associated aids and appliances reimbursement scheme at DRC Bhiwani. Applicants for the Divyang Pension may simultaneously apply for assistive devices through the same District Social Welfare Officer.
The official Social Justice department lists around Rs 3,000 a month for old age, widow, and Divyang pensions. News reports say the rate is being revised upward toward Rs 3,200.
Amounts change through gazette notifications. Confirm the current credited amount on pension.socialjusticehry.gov.in rather than relying on any single figure.
💗Widow and Destitute Women Allowance
Women drawing the widow pension who subsequently remarry must inform the department, as remarriage typically makes a beneficiary ineligible for the allowance. Failure to disclose changes in marital status or income may result in recovery of amounts already paid to the beneficiary.
The Haryana Divyang Pension Scheme was launched in 1981-82 to support persons with disabilities who are unable to sustain themselves financially. It is one of the longest-running social security programmes in the state, with its monthly amount revised more than a dozen times since inception.
Any Haryana resident with a disability ranging from 60 to 100 percent is potentially eligible for the Divyang Pension. The applicant must be at least 18 years of age and must have been residing in Haryana for a minimum of three consecutive years at the time of application.
The income limit for the Divyang Pension is set at the minimum wages for unskilled labour as notified by the Haryana Labour Department from time to time. This threshold is reviewed periodically and remains lower than the income ceiling for the old age or widow pension.
Haryana's social security pension system has grown to cover over 1.8 lakh Divyang beneficiaries as of 2023-24, in addition to the much larger base of old age and widow pension recipients spread across 22 districts. The state continues to add eligible new beneficiaries each month through the automated PPP-linked identification process.

♿Haryana Divyang Pension
Disability categories covered under the Divyang Pension include blindness, low vision, leprosy-cured persons, hearing impairment, locomotor disability, mental retardation, and mental illness. Thalassemia and haemophilia were subsequently added through a government notification, expanding the scope of who qualifies under the scheme.
A disability certificate from a government-authorised medical board is mandatory for the Divyang Pension application. The certificate must clearly specify the type of disability and the assessed percentage, as both factors determine eligibility under the scheme rules.
The Divyang Pension disbursement follows the same DBT route as the other two pensions, with amounts credited on the same monthly schedule. Persons with severe disabilities who face difficulty accessing banking services in person may contact the District Social Welfare Office to arrange an alternative disbursement method.
Haryana's pension portal at pension.socialjusticehry.gov.in also provides district-wise sanction lists and beneficiary statistics that officials monitor for payment compliance. Cases where payments have not been credited for three or more consecutive months are flagged for investigation by the district office.
The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment publishes detailed beneficiary and expenditure data on its website at socialjusticehry.gov.in each year. Citizens can access this information to verify the total number of Haryana pension beneficiaries in their district and the total monthly disbursement under each scheme.

📝How to Apply for a Haryana Pension
All three pension schemes are now applied for through the Parivar Pehchan Patra platform and the Antyodaya-Saral portal at saralharyana.gov.in. Applicants visit their nearest Atal Seva Kendra, Common Service Centre, or Saral Kendra to submit the application along with required documents.
Documents required for any Haryana pension application include the Family ID, Aadhaar card, Aadhaar-seeded bank passbook, and age proof such as a birth certificate or school leaving certificate. For the widow pension, the husband's death certificate is additionally required at the time of submission.
For the Divyang Pension application, the disability certificate from a government-authorised medical board specifying the type and percentage of disability is mandatory. A domicile certificate or residency proof may also be needed to satisfy the three-year Haryana residency requirement if the applicant has recently relocated.
After the application is submitted, it goes through a verification process involving the Block Development Officer and the District Social Welfare Officer. The department auto-fetches income and household data from the PPP Family ID, which shortens the overall verification timeline considerably.
Widows and senior citizens who are also registered under the Haryana Parivar Pehchan Authority system may receive automatic pension notifications when their family data crosses the eligibility threshold. The proactive identification system eliminates the need for many citizens to initiate the pension application process on their own.
Mandatory for Every Pension
You cannot apply for any Haryana pension without a valid Parivar Pehchan Patra, the Family ID. Your age and income are pulled from it automatically.
If your PPP shows a wrong income or age, the pension can be delayed or rejected. Fix the PPP first, then apply.
🔎How to Check Pension Status
Once the application is approved, the pension is released through PFMS and credited directly to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account. The monthly disbursement date varies slightly by district but generally falls in the first or second week of each month.
Beneficiaries can check their pension status, payment history, and sanction details online at pension.socialjusticehry.gov.in at any time. The portal allows search by Pension ID, Aadhaar number, bank account number, or Parivar Pehchan Patra Family ID.
The pension status portal is maintained by the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment and reflects the current stage of any application or payment. If a sanction is still pending, the portal shows which level of verification the file is currently at, helping applicants approach the right office.
Pensioners who change their bank account must submit a bank update request at a Saral Kendra or CSC to prevent payment failures. The new bank account must have Aadhaar seeding completed before the pension can be redirected to the updated account through PFMS.
How to Apply for a Haryana Pension Steps
⚠️If Your Pension Is Delayed or Stopped
Annual verification of beneficiaries is carried out using the PPP database and Aadhaar biometric records rather than paper life certificates. Pensioners do not need to visit any office for annual renewal as long as their PPP data is current and their Aadhaar is active.
Haryana uses the Antyodaya-Saral portal to track pension applications from submission to final sanction. Citizens can visit saralharyana.gov.in and enter their application reference number to see exactly which stage their file is at and which officer is currently handling it.
The department has a dedicated Saral helpline at 1800-2000-023 (toll-free) for all social security pension queries. The Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment main helpline at 0172-2715090 handles district office contacts and escalation of unresolved cases.
If a pension application is rejected, the applicant may file an appeal through the Antyodaya-Saral platform or visit the District Social Welfare Office in person. Common reasons for rejection include mismatched data between Aadhaar and PPP records, incomplete documentation, or income exceeding the prescribed limit.

🔄Annual Verification and Bank Updates
Pension-related grievances can be raised through the CM Window portal at cmharyanacell.nic.in or through the Parivar Pehchan Patra grievance section at grievance.edisha.gov.in. Complaints about delayed or stopped payments should include the Pension ID and bank account number for faster resolution.
Pension amounts in Haryana are revised through gazette notifications, and the enhanced amount is credited automatically from the effective date without requiring beneficiaries to reapply. All three pensions have seen upward revisions at regular intervals, with the widow pension most recently revised to Rs 3,200 from November 2025.
Haryana's pension delivery infrastructure is integrated with the PPP system, which links over 650 government schemes to citizen Family IDs. When household data on the PPP is accurate and up-to-date, the department can identify newly eligible beneficiaries and proactively add them to the pension rolls.
Citizens who helped elderly relatives apply for the budhapa pension previously had to collect paper forms and visit multiple offices across different departments. The entire process is now digital, with application data auto-populated from the PPP Family ID, significantly reducing the burden on applicants and their families.
The usual causes are a wrong income in the PPP, a missed annual verification or Jeevan Pramaan, or an Aadhaar not seeded to the bank.
Check your status at pension.socialjusticehry.gov.in, fix the specific issue, and raise a grievance on the CM Window or Saral portal if needed.
📞Grievances and Saral Helpline
The income verification for pension eligibility now uses digital data from tax records, EPFO, and the PPP household database rather than manual income certificates. This has reduced fraudulent applications and ensured that genuinely needy citizens receive faster access to their monthly allowance.
Haryana's three pension schemes are aligned with National Social Assistance Programme guidelines but offer state-level top-ups above the central contribution. The state ensures that Haryana beneficiaries receive amounts significantly higher than the central share, reflecting the government's priority for social security expenditure.
The budhapa pension and pension status Haryana are among the most frequently searched welfare terms in the state, reflecting the large elderly population across rural and urban Haryana that depends on the allowance as a primary income source. The digital PPP verification system has made the process accessible even to residents in remote blocks.
All three Haryana pensions are non-contributory, meaning beneficiaries do not need to have made any prior payments to become eligible. Eligibility depends entirely on age, income, domicile, disability status, and the specific qualifying condition applicable to each scheme.
Haryana pensions reach every eligible citizen through the PPP Family ID and direct bank transfer, removing middlemen and ensuring the monthly amount arrives in the beneficiary's account without delay or manual intervention.
