Kanya Sumangala Yojana 2026 — Total ₹25,000 in 6 Installments for UP Girl Child
Uttar Pradesh's flagship girl child scheme — total ₹25,000 (revised from ₹15,000) paid in 6 milestone-based installments from birth to graduation
📖What is Kanya Sumangala Yojana 2026 — Total ₹25,000 in 6 Installments for UP Girl Child?
Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana (MKSY) is the Uttar Pradesh state government's flagship girl child welfare scheme, launched in October 2019 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It provides milestone-based cash assistance to families with girl children, from the time of her birth through her higher education.
Effective from financial year 2024-25, the total benefit has been increased from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per eligible girl. The amount is paid in 6 separate installments tied to key life milestones — birth, immunisation, school enrolment, secondary school admission, and graduation. By early 2026, the scheme has reached over 26.81 lakh girl children across Uttar Pradesh.
MKSY is part of the second phase of UP's Zero Poverty Programme, with the state targeting 100% enrolment of eligible girls. The scheme is implemented through the Department of Women and Child Development and disbursed entirely via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary's bank account.
✅Eligibility
Effective FY 2024-25, the total Kanya Sumangala benefit has been raised by 66% — from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per eligible girl. The increase applies to all new registrations from 2025 onwards. Existing beneficiaries continue to receive remaining installments at the new revised amounts where applicable.

📋The 6-Stage Payment Structure
The ₹25,000 total is not paid in a single lump sum. It is structured to keep girls engaged with health and education milestones throughout their early years and into adulthood. Each stage carries a separate amount transferred via DBT.
Stage 1 — At Birth: Cash incentive for the birth of a girl child (girls born on or after 1 April 2019 are eligible). This encourages families to register daughter's birth and discourages female foeticide.
Stage 2 — After Complete Immunisation: Paid after the girl completes her vaccination schedule within the first year of life.
Stage 3 — Class 1 Admission: Paid when she is enrolled in Class 1 of a recognised school.
Stage 4 — Class 6 Admission: Paid on admission to Class 6 — encouraging continued schooling.
Stage 5 — Class 9 Admission: Paid on admission to Class 9 — covering the transition to secondary school.
Stage 6 — Graduation or 2-year Diploma: The final and largest installment, paid on admission to graduation course or a 2-year diploma after passing Class 12.

⚠️Common Mistakes That Cause Rejection
MKSY application rejections are usually due to easily-fixable issues. Watch for these:
Aadhaar–bank mismatch: The mother's bank account must be linked to her Aadhaar, and the name must match exactly across documents. Even one initial difference (e.g., "Priya" vs "P.") causes failure.
Income certificate expired: Income certificates from Tehsildar are valid for 1 year. Many families submit old certificates without renewal.
Wrong birth date entry: The cut-off is 1 April 2019. Girls born before this date are not eligible. Confirm the birth certificate date before applying.
Third girl child entries: Only 2 girls per family qualify (unless twins/triplets). Adding a third girl to the same parent records will result in automatic rejection.
Application is free at mksy.up.gov.in. No agent or middleman is authorised by the UP government to apply on your behalf. If anyone asks for ₹500-₹2,000 to "get your application approved," it is a scam. Report it to the District Probation Officer or call helpline 181.
