๐How to Apply for New Ration Card
New ration card applications are processed through state food department portals. The general process:
Step 1: Visit your state's food department portal (search '[State name] ration card apply online').
Step 2: Register with mobile number and create an account.
Step 3: Fill the application form โ family head details, all member details (name, age, Aadhaar, relationship), address, and income declaration.
Step 4: Upload documents โ Aadhaar of all family members, address proof, income certificate, passport photos.
Step 5: Submit and wait for verification. A food inspector may visit your address. Processing takes 15-45 days depending on the state.
Step 6: Once approved, your ration card number is generated and you can collect subsidized grains from your assigned fair price shop.
Note: In most states, you cannot apply online for AAY cards โ these are identified by the government based on socio-economic data. You can apply for BPL/PHH or APL cards.
