Is DigiLocker document legally valid?

Yes. Under the Information Technology Act 2000 (Section 3A), documents in DigiLocker are treated as legally equivalent to original physical documents. A traffic police officer must accept your DigiLocker driving license. A college must accept your DigiLocker marksheet. If anyone refuses, they are technically violating the law.

What if I lose my phone?

Your documents are safe — DigiLocker is cloud-based, not stored on your phone. Login from any device (new phone, computer, friend's phone) with your username/password to access all your documents. Consider enabling fingerprint/face lock on the app for security.

My CBSE marksheet is not showing on DigiLocker. Why?

CBSE has uploaded marksheets from 2004 onwards. If your exam was before 2004, it may not be available. Also, search using your exact CBSE roll number and year. If still not found, contact CBSE directly — they may need to upload your specific record.

Can I share DigiLocker documents with others?

Yes. You can share documents via: (1) Direct link (generates a shareable URL), (2) QR code (scannable by the recipient), or (3) Email. Shared documents are verified and tamper-proof — the recipient can confirm authenticity by scanning the QR code.

Documents in DigiLocker are legally valid — they are treated as equivalent to original documents under the IT Act. This means you can show your DigiLocker driving license to a traffic cop, submit DigiLocker marksheets for college admission, or use DigiLocker Aadhaar for KYC — all without physical copies.

Pull documents from issuing organizations

Go to 'Issued Documents' → search by organization (CBSE, RTO, Income Tax) → pull your documents. They appear instantly if the issuing organization has digitized your records. Example: Search 'Driving License' → select your state RTO → enter DL number → your digital DL appears.

Identity: Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID (EPIC).

Education: CBSE marksheets (10th, 12th), ICSE certificates, university degrees and marksheets (many state universities), GATE scorecard, JEE/NEET score.

Vehicle: Driving license, vehicle Registration Certificate (RC), pollution certificate, insurance.

Finance: Income tax documents (Form 16, 26AS), insurance policies (LIC, private insurers), bank account statements (some banks).

Others: Birth certificate, Caste certificate, COVID vaccination certificate (CoWIN), property registration documents (some states).
